As important as external styling, fuel economy, reliability and safety is the fact is if you get the interior right you are half way there.
US based automotive analysts WardsAuto have just named their top 10 car interiors for 2012 and the list is made up with a fairly diverse range of cars.
The winners were selected from a field of 40 vehicles with new or significantly improved interiors and there was no price cap on entries.
The winners in alphabetical order:
Audi A7
Chevrolet Sonic (Holden Barina is Australia, review here)
Chrysler 300 Luxury
Dodge Dart (not available in Australia)
Hyundai Accent (recently reviewed by us here)
Hyundai Azera (not available in Australia)
Infiniti JX35 (here in coming months)
Mazda CX-5
Range Rover Evoque (recently reviewed by us here)
Volkswagen Beetle
WardsAuto World Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter says this year’s entrants came from a diverse field, “It’s obvious to us that auto makers are pushing their design staffs harder than ever for interiors that are beautifully appointed, well-equipped and extremely comfortable,”
“There are too many great interiors in the market for any auto maker to think it can stand pat with its current interior offerings and remain successful,” he says.

Fantastic news for my work colleague ( Noel not his real name ) who collected his white Accent 2012 today ! Congratulations to him and his daughter who collectively decided with the advice given to look at Hyundai and take the initiative to buy the best value for money car in the category he picked. I know he did not know about this news about the Hyundai Accent being selected one of Wards best 10 interiors and 10 best engines for 2012 !
I spend 90 % of my time with my car in my car. So this category is really important to the owner driver.
