Some much needed excitement is to be injected into the Toyota line-up with details released on their new 86 sports car.
The new Toyota four seat sports car, which was developed in consultation with Subaru, will fill a void left open for years since the demise of the Celica, MR2 and even Supra.
The best part is the 86 will carry a very reasonable price tag starting from just $29,990.
Under the bonnet you will find a horizontally opposed 2.0 litre four cylinder petrol engine that delivers 147kW and 205Nm and uses a combined 7.8 litres per 100 in manual form, 7.1 litres if you go for the auto.
As you would expect the 86 is rear wheel drive.
Toyota Australia’s executive director sales and marketing Matthew Callachor said Toyota was determined to deliver the 86 without a hefty price tag.
“The 86 is meant to be enjoyed by as many driving enthusiasts as possible, and our pricing will extend its appeal to people who never imagined they could afford such a fun car.”
The 86 will be in Toyota dealerships soon.
