Price cut and safety upgrade for Ford Fiesta…
Ford will be hoping some additional standard safety features and a price reduction will stir some more interest in the Fiesta.
The small car, which has long been a staple of the Ford Australia line-up, probably hasn’t met sales expectations in recent years.
You can mostly put this down to the cut-throat competition in the segment where it’s an absolute buyers’ market.
Ford today announced a price cut of $1500 for the base model CL, the LX diesel and petrol will be reduced by $1200 and the Zetec petrol and diesel Fiesta will be trimmed by $500.
Despite the savings Ford has generously added side curtain/thorax and driver’s knee airbag as standard, as well as a seatbelt reminder.
Previously this safety equipment was standard on the LX and Zetec but was a $600 “safety pack” option on the CL.
The move brings the entire Ford passenger line-up to a consistent 5 star ANCAP rating.
