213kW Volkswagen Golf R coming soon…
We’ve been covering the Australian arrival of the refreshed and reinvigorated Volkswagen Golf, now we have more details on the sporty Golf R variant.
Confirmed this morning by Volkswagen, the Volkswagen Golf R 7.5 (7.5 is the term being used for the refreshed model) is promising a sub 5 second 0-100km/h sprint when it lands locally in August.
The extra go comes from a new 213kW/380Nm 2.0 litre turbocharged engine and new seven-speed DSG auto transmission.
A six-speed manual transmission will also be available and, as expected, all-wheel drive will come as standard on the Golf R 7.5.
Speaking of standard features, the sporty Golf R will also boast:
- 9.2″ infotainment/navigation system with App-Connect
- Vienna leather appointed upholstery
- Heated front seats
- Dark tinted rear and rear side windows
- Metallic/Pearl Effect paint
- 19″ (Spielberg) alloy wheels
- Reverse camera
- Front and rear parking sensors
- Forward collision alert/braking
Volkswagen Australia boss, Michael Bartsch, says the Golf R is a true performance car.
“You need not look too far into the past to find the time when 4.8 seconds was the preserve of a Porsche 911,”
“It is extraordinary that a relatively affordable car not only attains this performance, but includes refinements and technologies that remain options in some prestige brands.”
We will bring you 2018 Volkswagen Golf R pricing details when confirmed, in the meantime you can stay up to date with the latest Volkswagen Golf News here.
Just wanted to know if the Golf 2018 110TSI Comfortline auto has a CD player. I use my car cd player all the time to play “talking books” (rather than music).
