Airbag issue sees 2016 Mercedes-Benz cars, crossovers recalled

Recall for Mercedes-Benz CLA and GLA-Class vehicles…

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is overseeing the recall of some 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and GLA-Class vehicles after a possible airbag issue was identified.

All of the affected vehicles were sold in Australia between the 1st of October 2016 and the 5th of November 2016.

The recall notice advises that the left window airbag may not have been manufactured to specifications.

In the event of an accident where the left window airbag is activated it may not deploy.

What are the hazards?

This may result in an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.

The recall affects CLA-Class passenger cars and the GLA crossover (above).

Mercedes-Benz Australia will send letters to owners of affected vehicles asking them to contact their nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership to arrange and inspection and repair at no cost.
