Big Australian shake-up at Great Wall Motors

Look for a more visual presence in the Australian car market for Great Wall Motors now that local operations are in the hands of the Chinese parent company.

Previously imported by Ateco Automotive, Great Wall Motors has just let us know that from the 1st of July they will assume control of all Australian and NZ operations.

While Great Wall Motors Australia (GWMA) will also soon re-enter the market with an all-new Great Wall utility.

GWMA Managing Director, Parker Shi, telling us the change is an exciting one.

“This signals the beginning of an exciting new era for China’s most successful utility manufacturer in the region,”

“As demand for utilities continues to grow, Great Wall Motors decided now was the time to take the brand to the next level by establishing a direct OE presence here.”

Mr Shi also says existing Great Wall owners will be looked after via the existing dealer network, a network that the company is now looking to secure moving forward.

“We are having discussions with the entire Great Wall dealer network and we are confident the vast majority will become part of the new business.

“Those discussions have revealed an enormous amount of goodwill for the GWM brand in both countries (Australia and New Zealand).”

We will keep you updated with more info on Great Wall Motors in Australia into the future.
