So far, Ferrari has strongly resisted the pull towards an SUV, however with the rival makers generating strong sales, and healthy profits out of SUVs, it could just be a matter of time.
And now, there seems to be a change in attitude from the prancing horse brand.
Ferrari boss Sergio Marchionne last week admitted publically that the company is “dead serious about an SUV”.
The nay sayers have already started sniping the notion of a Ferrari SUV including former CEO Luca di Montezemolo who said a Ferrari-branded SUV would likely dilute the brand.
When di Montezemolo resigned in 2014, he joked at his last press conference by saying, “Marchionne wanted to build a Ferrari truck, but I talked him out of it.”
However, since di Montezemolo’s departure, the idea of a Ferrari SUV—and higher production volumes—has apparently been pushed forward and solidified.
A similar scenario existed at Porsche when it was toying with the idea of an SUV… the Cayenne, but economic realities dictated the outcome.

A committed punter would almost be compelled to put a wager on Ferrari building an SUV, they are half way there already with the GTC4 Lusso.
