Ford brings Escape nameplate back to Australia

Ford Escape to replace the Ford Kuga in Ford Australia SUV line-up…

The last time the Ford Escape was sold in Australia it was essentially a re-badged Mazda Tribute, this time around though the medium-size SUV model will stand on its own.

Albeit, the Ford Escape is essentially just the Ford Kuga re-badged and refreshed for 2017.

Some of the key changes coming to the 2017 Ford Escape include:

  • Updated front and rear styling
  • Updated interior
  • New mid-spec Trend model with 1.5 litre EcoBoost engine and front-wheel drive
  • SYNC 3 infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard
  • Engine start/stop added to 2.0 litre petrol models
  • Two new colours - White Platinum and Copper Pulse
  • Electronic parking brake
  • ISOFIX anchorage-points (all variants)
  • Rear air-vents standard on all models
Updated Ford Escape/Kuga cabin with SYNC 3.

Priced from $28,490, Ford Australia boss Graeme Whickman says the 2017 Ford Escape will build on the success of Ford’s expanding SUV range.

“The Escape will follow the formula set by the Ford Kuga as a family friendly, fuel-efficient and five-star safety rated SUV,”

“We’ve responded to calls for a broader line-up, with the front-wheel drive Trend giving consumers an even more compelling SUV offering, and with sharpened MLPs across the range.”
