Ford continues UK sales domination

April 2016 car sales data shows UK car and commercial vehicle buyers continued their love affair with the Ford brand.

Coming in the same month that Ford achieved what must have been the very satisfying result of beating Holden in the Australian car sales race (Ford finished 4th overall, Holden 5th), Ford again finished clear leader in the UK.

Selling 31,695 vehicles and taking a dominant 14.3% market share (4.8% in front of its nearest rival), Ford had the biggest selling individual model – the Ford Fiesta.

Remarkably, Ford also had four other models in the UK top twenty; Focus (3rd), Transit Custom (9th), Kuga (15th) and Transit (19th).

Andy Barratt, Ford of Britain chairman and managing director, said April 2016 was another pleasing month for the brand.

“We continue to consolidate and extend our long-standing UK market leadership through continued investment in exciting products and industry-leading technologies, delivered through the strongest UK dealer network.

“Five vehicles in the UK top 20 and seven Ford vehicles leading their segments firmly underline the success of our exciting model range.”
