New V8 Ford truck engines to be good for a trip to the moon!
While not available in Australia, Ford Truck buyers overseas will have an engine under the bonnet that is good for a round trip from the Earth to the moon.
That’s the promise from Ford in America in regards to the companies new 6.7 litre Power Stroke V8 diesel engine that is being fitted to the Ford F-650 and F-750 line-up. Ford tell us the new engine will easily handle at least a half-million miles (800,000km+).
John Ruppert, general manager of Ford Commercial Vehicle Sales and Marketing in the U.S. has told Behind the Wheel Truck News that the confidence in the V8 unit comes from extensive dynamometer testing.
“F-650 and F-750 customers help keep America moving,”
“We’re here to make sure they can with our all-new medium-duty trucks – whether that’s trucking freight from Los Angeles to New York, or helping keep the lights on in your neighbourhood.”
Designed for medium-duty applications, the 6.7 litre Power Stroke engine comes in three power levels ranging from 270hp to 330hp and is said to be up to 45% quieter than the superseded engine found in Ford F-650 and F-750 trucks.
