Hyundai i30 tops Aussie car sales race in October

Hyundai with top model, Toyota number one overall

The impressive new Hyundai i30 can claim to be Australia’s most popular car at the moment after the model topped the car sales charts in October.

VFACTS data just coming to hand this afternoon shows that the new car industry had another solid month in October, in total Australia’s car sales yards handed over the keys to 95,763 new vehicles in the month.

That total represents a new October sales record.

Another interesting observation is that Hyundai also leapfrogged Mazda into second place on the back of the strong demand for i30.

Car Sales Data October 2017 – Top Manufacturers:

  • Toyota 18.6% (market share)
  • Hyundai (9.2%)
  • Mazda (8.4%)
  • Holden (8.1%)
  • Ford (6.0%)

Car Sales Data October 2017 – Top Models:

The strong October result for the industry keeps things on track for another record year.

After ten months the 2017 vehicle sales total sits a slim 0.5% ahead of the same period last year with 984,931 total sales.

While Japan remained Australia’s biggest source of imported vehicles (27,062 during October), followed by Thailand (22,826) and Korea (15,395).
