Luxury coupé offered as V8 or hybrid model…

Evolving from the LF-LC concept, Lexus has created the Lexus LC coupé presented in a V8 coupé and hybrid form.

Built by the same people who developed the Lexus LFA, the LC uses advanced materials like ultra-high tensile steel, aluminium and carbon fibre reinforced plastic providing a strong, lightweight and most torsionally rigid Lexus chassis ever.

The four-seater flagship model  sports a low roof and bonnet line, a low centre of gravity and six drive modes for pleasurable driving experience.

Lexus has confirm pricing at $190,000 for both model grades - the V8 LC 500 and the full hybrid LC 500h.

The LC 500 will be powered by a 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine capable of 351KW and a huge 540Nm, and a 10-speed direct shift auto transmission which is a world first for a luxury car.

Meanwhile the hybrid LC 500h has a combined 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine (263kW/348Nm) and a motor generator (300Nm) run by a lithium-ion battery plus a 10-ratio multi-stage shift to produce an economy of 6.7L/100km.

While both variants comes standard with:

  • LED lighting
  • Panoramic roof
  • Flush door handles
  • Large colour head-up display
  • Dual climate control
  • Adaptive variable multi-link sports suspension
  • 21” forged alloy wheels

Safety hasn’t been forgotten with Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collison Safety System, Lane Keep Assist, Sway Warning, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, reversing camera and eight airbags.

Lexus Chief Executive Peter McGregor says owners will get increased performance out of both models.

“The V8 complements the finely tuned handling qualities of the coupe’s chassis by delivering the acceleration, responsiveness and high output customers expect.

“While the LC 500h will change the perception of hybrids with much improved performance, greater responsiveness and a higher level of driving pleasure.”
