MAN, Scania on the up in May 2017

Healthy sales numbers for VW’s truck brands

The sales performance of the MAN and Scania brands in May 2017 was all positive according to sales data released by Volkswagen.

While in Australia, both brands also achieved sales growth in the month.

On the global stage, Volkswagen Group has just reported 9,600 sales for MAN Truck & Bus in May 2017, that figure up 13% on the 8,500 deliveries recorded last May.

Year to date, MAN sales have increased 6.8% with more than 43,000 sales.

Over at Scania things are looking just as good.

There was a 13.8% lift in Scania sales in May 2017 with a global total of 7,700 and across the first five months of the year the Swedish brand is ahead 9.8% with 35,400 total sales.

Coming on the back of a healthy 7.8% jump in light commercial vehicle sales in May, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are doing extremely well this year.

In Australia, VFACTS data shows both brands are also on the up.

In May, MAN handed over 45 units, that number a 114.3% increase on the same month in 2016.

33 of those sales were heavy-duty trucks.

While at Scania, May 2017 produced 98 Australian sales and that compares extremely well with the 41-recorded last May (+139.0%).
