Mercedes-Benz enjoys sales boom in 2016

Mercedes-Benz sets new sales record in first half of 2016

A 12.1% increase in sales across the first six months of the year has helped Mercedes-Benz to a new half year sales record.

From January to June, Mercedes-Benz delivered 1,006,619 vehicles globally.

The six-month period ending on a high with June sales up 11.1% with 188,444 Mercedes-Benz cars handed over to customers.

Already the top-selling premium car brand in Australia, Mercedes-Benz managed to increase sales in our region, Asia-Pacific, by more than 20% across the first half of the year.

A 46.1% jump in Mercedes-Benz SUV sales across the globe fuelled much of the growth.

Sales and Marketing chief at Daimler AG, Ola Källenius, welcomed the strong results.

“We passed the million mark this year already in June and thus achieved the best half year in the company’s history.

“One third of all Mercedes-Benz passenger cars sold are in the SUV segment.

“This shows that our product offensive is paying off and that our completely renewed SUV portfolio is extremely well received by our customers.”
