Nissan Murano recalled to fix power steering issue

Possible power steering fluid leak for Murano…

Australian owners of some Nissan Murano SUVs are being contacted by the manufacturer after a possible power steering issue was identified.

The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and affects Nissan Murano SUVs built between November 2013 and February 2015.

Those affected vehicles carry VINs within the range - JN1TANZ51A0025546 to JN1TANZ51A0026011.

The recall notice advises that the power steering high pressure hose may separate over time as a result of incorrect clamp fittings.

If this occurs, the power steering fluid may leak.

What are the hazards?

This could lead to a gradual increase in steering effort due to the loss of power steering assistance.

If the power steering fluid leaks onto a heat source, it may lead to a fire.

Nissan will contact affected Murano owners once parts availability is confirmed.

Those owners will then be asked to contact their Nissan dealer to arrange for the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
