Peugeot and Citroen SUVs recalled to fix wiper issue

Peugeot 4008/Citroen C4 affected by recall

Some Mitsubishi-designed/built versions of the Peugeot 4008 and Citroen C4 Air Cross are being recalled to fix a potential issue with the windscreen wipers.

Coming on the back of a recent recall regarding a possible tailgate issue that affected by the Peugeot and Citroen variants, the latest action is once again being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The Mitsubishi ASX version of the small SUV offering was recalled to fix this windscreen wiper issue back in February.

All of the recalled vehicles were sold in Australia between the 1st of June 2012 and the 29th of November 2013 (Citroen) and 1st June 2012 to the 30th of January 2014 (Peugeot).

In total, around 2,500 Peugeot/Citroen SUVS are affected.

What are the faults?

The recall notice (Peugeot here and Citroen here) advises in specific vehicles the windscreen wiper motor venting device may be non-compliant.

This may allow water to enter the wiper motor, creating internal corrosion and locking up the motor.

What are the hazards?

If the front windscreen wiper motor fails, the driver’s visibility in wet weather would be affected, possibly causing an accident.

What should owners do?

Peugeot/Citroen Automobiles Australia will contact all known owners by mail and advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred authorised Peugeot/Citroen dealer to have replacement parts installed.
