Takata Airbag issues affect Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Small number of Mitsubishi electric cars recalled in Australia…

Owners of Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric cars are being contacted to arrange for recall repairs to be carried out on their vehicles.

The recall, part of the global Takata airbag recalls, affects GA & GB series i-MiEV vehicles built up to the 31st of December 2011 and sold in Australia between the 30th of March 2010 and the 20th of May 2013.

The recall notice advises that the passenger front airbag inflator may release metallic fragments from the inflator container when the airbag deploys in an accident.

What are the hazards?

This may cause an injury to the vehicle occupants.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia advises that when parts become available they will contact all known owners by mail and advise them to present their vehicle to their preferred dealer to have the vehicle rectified.
