Usual suspects pick up respected UK car awards

A line-up of familiar faces have collected the top gongs at the 2016 Telegraph Car Awards in their respective categories.

The awards, given out by the Daily Telegraph publication, are chosen by a panel of expert motoring journalists selecting the best vehicles of the last 12 months.

Best Family Car was given to the Škoda Superb with Telegraph journos stating there is no need to upgrade to a station wagon due to the generous interior.

There were more choices for families with the Nissan Qashqai awarded Best Mainstream SUV and the Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer bestowed Best Estate Car (or station wagon) which will be rebadged here as the Holden Astra.

The reliable and popular Honda Jazz took out the Best Small Hatchback award while the Mercedes-Benz E-Class won Best Business Car for its great interior and low running cost.

And finally the Rolls-Royce Dawn was honoured with Luxury Car of the Year which judges claim defines the essence of luxury, by providing a relaxed drive and making its occupants feel very special.
